Drafthouse Films has released the first trailer for The Congress, visionary filmmaker Ari Folman's follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Waltz with Bashir. Robin Wright stars as an alternate version of herself, an aging actress who is offered one final job, to preserve her digital likeness for future generations. This adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's 1971 novel, which co-stars Harvey Keitel, Jon Hamm, Paul Giamatti, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Danny Huston and Sami Gayle, arrives on iTunes and VOD July 24, ahead of its theatrical debut August 29.
Based on legendary science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem's 1971 novel The Futurological Congress, Folman's adaptation blends live action and psychedelic animation as an aging, out-of-work actress (Robin Wright in an unusual role playing an alternate reality version of herself) accepts her final job: preserving her digital image for a future Hollywood. 20 years later, Wright's digital double rises to immortal stardom and is invited to take part in The Congress as she makes her comeback straight into the world of future fantasy cinema.Read More
