Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, EON Productions; Gary Barber, Chairman & CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; Michael Lynton, CEO, Sony Entertainment, Inc, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that Daniel Craig will once again return as the legendary British secret agent in the 24th James Bond film and Sam Mendes will also return to direct the screenplay written by John Logan. The film is set for release in UK theaters on October 23, 2015 and in US theaters on November 6, 2015.
Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.Read More
On one hand, the fact that the Skyfall director is still in discussions is promising, but it seems he hasn't fully made up his mind yet. Since the play opened yesterday, hopefully that means we will know soon, once and for all, if Sam Mendes is directing Bond 24 or not. The filmmaker was first set to come back for the sequel in February, before turning down Eon Productions' offer in March, citing his obligations to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Then, in May, it appeared he had signed on, but those reports turned out to be premature.
Daniel Craig is returning as 007, with Ralph Fiennes back as the new M, Naomie Harris reprising her role as Eve Moneypenny and Ben Whishaw playing Q. John Logan is writing the screenplay, but it is not known when production may begin. We reported in October that Sony is targeting a fall 2014 release date.Read More
Director Sam Mendes is directing Bond 24, and "most likely" Bond 25 as well, bringing months of speculation to an end as to who will direct this highly-anticipated thriller.
The Skyfall director, who has never made a sequel before in his career, turned down the original offer from producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to make Bond 24 in March, citing his obligations to theater productions in London. Later that month, the producers revealed they were still trying to get Sam Mendes back, and now it seems that persistence has paid off. The deal is reportedly finalized after "exhaustive negotiations," which we reported on earlier this week. John Logan has already been locked in to write the screenplay for Bond 24.Read More
Nicolas Winding Refn, Ang Lee, Shane Black, Tom Hooper, and David Yates have emerged as candidates to direct Bond 24. However, Skyfall director Sam Mendes, who turned down an offer to direct the sequel in March, is reportedly resuming talks to direct this follow-up to Skyfall.
While reports claim that no decision has been made yet on who is directing this highly-anticipated action sequel, sources indicate that Sam Mendes has re-entered negotiations. He turned down the offer from Eon Productions producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson because of his obligations to direct a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stage musical on London's West End, which will then move to Broadway. Now, it is believed that the producers are willing to wait for Sam Mendes to complete his commitments to the stage play before moving forward on Bond 24.Read More
Despite director Sam Mendes turning down the offer to direct Bond 24, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are confident the director will be back for another 007 movie in the future, even if its not Bond 24.
Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw are all reprising their roles from Skyfall for the next 007 adventure, though a director hasn't been hired yet. There is a very slim chance that the production will be put on hold long enough for Sam Mendes to finish his theater work and return.Read More

The James Bond franchise doesn't normally retain directors for more than one movie, although, after the phenomenal box office success of Skyfall, that tradition is about to change. Director Sam Mendes is reportedly "75 percent sure" he is coming back to make Bond 24.
We reported in October that John Logan is writing the screenplay, and soon thereafter, reports started swirling that the next 007 movie would actually be a two-part project. Star Daniel Craig shot down those rumors just days later, but this new report indicates that may have actually been a part of the plan at one point. Now that Bond 24 is officially a stand-alone project, the director is close to signing on, but he intends to wait until a completed script has been turned in.Read More
