Just hours after we reported that Ewan McGregor is playing Lumiere in Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast remake, Variety is reporting that Stanley Tucci has signed on to play a brand new character, who didn't appear in the original 1991 animated version of Beauty and the Beast. The actor has finalized a deal to play Cadenza, a grand piano who is described as a "neurotic maestro." It isn't known how large a role he will have, or if the role requires the actor to do any singing.
Stanley Tucci joins a cast that also includes Emma Watson (Belle), Luke Evans (Gaston), Dan Stevens (The Beast), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Kevin Kline (Maurice), Ian McKellen (Cogsworth), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Plumette) and Audra McDonald (Garderobe). Alan Menken, who composed the songs for the original Beauty and the Beast, is returning, creating new songs with Tim Rice along with different versions of the original tunes. Principal photography is slated to begin next month at London's Shepperton Studios.Read More
