‘Boardwalk Empire’ Lands Stephen Root for Season 3

Actor Stephen Root has joined the cast of HBO's Boardwalk Empire in a Season 3 recurring role.

Stephen Root will portray Gaston Means, a former forger, swindler, and murder suspect who somehow became a special investigator for the U.S. Department of Justice. He will be working under Christopher McDonald's character, Attorney General Harry Daugherty. Stephen Root joins fellow new addition Bobby Cannavale, who we reported last week joined the cast as a series regular, portraying gangster Gyp Rosetti.

The Conspirator's Stephen Root is set to join director Robert Redford's The Company You Keep.

The chilling story centers around an ex-Weather activist who is on the run, when a zealous reporter (Shia LaBeouf) unravels his true identity. The FBI cold case story will take Jason Sinai (Robert Redford), through a nationwide manhunt for a murder during a bank robbery in the 1970's. Susan Sarandon and Julie Christie will play Ex-Weather Underground associates who were involved with the robbery. Richard Jenkins plays a college professor who has information surrounding the militants in hiding.

‘J. Edgar’ Adds Stephen Root

Actor Stephen Root is the latest to join the cast of Clint Eastwood's biopic J. Edgar, which is currently in production.

Stephen Root will play Arthur Koehler, a forensic wood specialist who helps J. Edgar Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio) investigate the kidnapping of Charles A. Lindbergh's (Josh Lucas) son. Arthur Koehler aids the case by examining a ladder used by the abductor.

Stephen Root Joins ‘Red State’ and ‘Everybody Loves Whales’ Root has added two new projects to his calendar: the Universal drama Everybody Loves Whales and Kevin Smith's horror film Red State, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Everybody Loves Whales, which stars Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell and John Krasinski, Stephen Root will play Gov. Haskell, who is based on a real person.

Stephen Root has been making America laugh on both the small screen and silver screen for decades now. After cutting his teeth with small roles in film and television, the actor landed the gig of the eccentric Jimmy James on the hit comedy series NewsRadio in 1995 and movie fans took notice with his legendary performance as Milton Waddams in the cult classic comedy Office Space. Root hasn't stopped working since, becoming a regular fixture in Coen Brothers movies and delivering memorable performances no matter what film he's in and no matter how small the role. Root's latest film, The Men Who Stare at Goats, was recently released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 23 and I had a chance to speak with this wonderful comedic actor over the phone about his role in the film.
