As production continues on Independence Day 2 in New Mexico, the cast keeps growing and growing, with William Fichtner signing on for a lead role. The actor will play an important General in the sequel, a role that will actually expand in two more sequels that are being developed. This is the first we're hearing of two more sequels, but Independence Day 2 was previously-conceived as a two-parter, then known as ID Forever Part 1 and ID Forever Part 2, but those plans were eventually scrapped. Of course, very little is known about Independence Day 2 as it stands right now, so we're not sure what the plot may be for Independence Day 3 and Independence Day 4.
William Fichtner joins a cast that includes original Independence Day stars Jeff Goldblum (David Levinson), Vivica A. Fox (Jasmine Dubrow), Brent Spiner (Dr. Brackish Okun), Bill Pullman (Thomas A. Whitmore) and Judd Hirsch (Julius Levinson). New cast members include Jessie Usher as Jasmine's son, Sela Ward as U.S. President Lanford, and Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Travis Tope, Joey King and Maika Monroe in unspecified roles. Vivica A. Fox recently revealed that the sequel is set 15 years after the original, and that the aliens do come back to Earth.Read More

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has arrived on Blu-ray and DVD just in time for Christmas. And it's sure to be played on repeat throughout the holiday season by its younger fan base. But there are those older fans who have been with the franchise since its inception, and while everyone agrees that producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman got the four sewer-dwelling brothers right, there are a whole lot of other things they got wrong. One of those things is the way Shredder is handled. As Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles makes its way to the home market, we were able to catch up with star William Fichtner, who plays Eric Sacks in the remake, and he offered some new insight into the big screen evolution of the series' iconic villain, which he was at one time set to play.
Do you think William Fichtner's Eric Sacks should assume the role of Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2? Or do you want to see Tohoru Masamune pull himself out of the pavement and continue on with the role?Read More

It should come as no surprise, as we haven't heard anything leading up to this announcement, but Shredder himself, William Fichtner, has confirmed that neither Bebop nor Rocksteady will be making an appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In the original comic books and animated series, Shredder's real name is Oroku Saki, and he is of Japanese descent. There were rumors that casting a Japanese actor for Shredder may have hurt the project's box office prospects in the all-important and rapidly-growing Chinese market. You need only look at how closely Michael Bay is working with China on Transformers 4 to know that this is 'based' in fact. It doesn't mean Japanese actors are no longer welcome in Hollywood. The Wolverine has a mostly Japanese cast. It's solely on projects like Transformers 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, where China is a co-producer or financier. We saw this with Iron Man 3 earlier in the summer, which had scenes shot specifically for the Chinese audience that weren't seen anywhere else.
An early, leaked draft of the screenplay last year revealed that this version of Shredder was a former military officer named Colonel Schrader, but that could have very easily been changed since then. Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) is directing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is currently in production.Read More
The mask has been pulled back on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Shredder, with already announced actor William Fichtner confirming himself in the role.
Shredder is the resident villain of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe. His backstory has varied throughout the course of the various comic book, movie and cartoon series runs. Also known as Oroku Saki, the character has traditionally been Japanese. He joined the Foot Clan seeking revenge against another Foot soldier for the death of his brother. He quickly rose through the ranks, and was put in charge of the American branch of this terrorist and crime organization. This allowed him to move to New York, where he avenged the death of his brother by killing the man responsible along with the man's one true love. Splinter, the dead man's pet rat, witnessed the brutal murder, and when mutated into an anthromorphic state along with four turtles, trained those turtles to take down Shredder and wipe out the American branch of the Foot Clan and free New York from its clutches.Read More
