‘Beetlejuice 2’: Winona Ryder Confirms Her Return as Lydia

Tim Burton did, in fact, mention last year that Winona Ryder will be back as Lydia Deetz, but we still don't know when production may actually get started. Tim Burton is currently in post-production on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which hits theaters next March. We reported earlier this year that he signed on to direct Disney's live action remake of the animated classic Dumbo, but it isn't known how far along that project is in development.

It's certainly possible that production on Beetlejuice 2 could happen by the end of this year, especially since Michael Keaton recently dropped out of Warner Bros.' Kong: Skull Island. The director will work from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, but there isn't anything we know about the story quite yet. With Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder on board, hopefully this will attract more original Beetlejuice stars to the project.
