Variety reports that The Town screenwriter Peter Craig will write the screenplay for Sony's Fathers and Guns.

We first reported on the project over a year ago, with Sony acquiring the rights to the French-Canadian drama De Pere en Flic for an American adaptation. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are producing the new American version.

The story centers on a father and son cop team who are given an assignment to investigate an outdoors group for fathers and sons. Our original story indicates that the duo are at odds with each other and are forced into the assignment.

De Pere en Flic is one of Quebec's top-grossing movies after its summer 2009 release. The original movie's producer, Denise Robert, and writer-director, Émile Gaudreault, are producing this Americanized adaptation as well.
