Vertigo is returning to Arrow, but not in the form you may expect, with Peter Stormare signing on to play the villain in the show's Season 3 Premiere. If you haven't caught up with Season 2 of Arrow, there will be spoilers that follow, so read on at your own risk. If you are a die-hard fan who is confused by this news, keep reading.

Peter Stormare is playing the New 52 comic book version of Count Vertigo, Werner Zytle, taking over as the new purveyor of the infectious drug Vertigo that swept through Starling City last season. Seth Gabel (Fringe) played The Count in Arrow Season 2 before he was killed off. Zytle, who will go by the alias Vertigo, will be the first villain Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and his team must face in Season 3, but it isn't known if he will appear in more episodes down the line.

The actor joins other Season 3 casting additions such as Devon Aoki and Karl Yune, who will appear in Oliver's flashbacks as Tatsu Yamashiro (a.k.a. Katana) and her husband Maseo Yamashiro. The married couple serve as mentors to Oliver during his time on the island, with both playing key roles in his journey to become Arrow.

We reported last week that the Season 3 Premiere will air Wednesday, October 8 at 8 PM ET on The CW.

A versatile and well-respected character actor, Peter Stormare most recently starred in the big screen comedy sequel 22 Jump Street. On the small screen, he appeared on NBC's The Blacklist as the villainous Berlin, an adversary of Red Reddington (James Spader).
