Matt Osterman's directorial debut Phasma Ex Machina, retitled Ghost From the Machine for its stateside DVD release, is getting remade by Universal Pictures.

Gary Shore will direct this new version of the story, with Nathan Parker penning the screenplay. The original sci-fi thriller tried to bridge the grey area between life and death as a young man is forced to raise his younger brother after both of his parents die in an accident. The young man becomes obsessed with bringing his mother and father back from the dead, and creates a machine for the task that threatens his life and the lives of those around him.

Gary Shore will make Phasma Ex Machina before embarking on an adaptation of the James Patterson novel series Maximum Ride.
