‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ to Be a Stand Alone Adventure Says Jerry Bruckheimer

Captain Jack Sparrow will stand alone in Pirates 5 It was announced in mid-January that Terry Rossio had been hired back by Walt Disney Pictures to pen Pirates of the Caribbean 5, albeit without his usually writing partner Ted Elliott.

While at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave an update on this information, revealing that the screenplay is already in the process of being written. And that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will be a stand alone adventure for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), much like the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

It was originally believed that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6 would be one giant continuation of a single story, much like the last two chapters: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

It is not known if any of the new characters from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will eventually pop up in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6, or if any of the old crew, such as Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will make an appearance.

It wasn't announced when these two sequels will go into production, but it is expected that they will shoot back to back.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales comes to theaters July 7th, 2017.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was released May 20th, 2011.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is in development .

..........Although, even if they film Pirates 5 and Pirates 6 back to back, at least they will both be "stand-alone movies".

That's because they knew Pirates 3 would be a success in the box office, as well as Pirates 2, so they filmed them back to back.

If Pirates 4 does well in the box office worldwide, then there will likely end up being a Pirates 5. Same way Pirates 2, 3 and 4 all happened.

I kinda don't like seeing "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" because it just seems like they should stop at a point, but all of them have been really fun to watch (even the third was enjoyable, if not great) so bring it on!

@bawnian-dexeus Cutthroat Island?? I honestly liked it a hell of alot more than the critics and that movie is the reason the first pirates ALMOST didnt get made but i would say that is anything from realistic or serious. But ya know, when you have only a handfull of pirate movie to chose from....welllm its one of the better ones in the past 2 decades.

@bawnian-dexeus That is absolutly doable because many of the pirates not only knew eachother but worked on the same ships at times so i think there is a serious pand bloddy pirate movie there but i honestly dont see any studios getting behind it since their lil disney pirates are so popular....

i am not mocking its just...how many SERIOUS pirate movies do you see these days?

@skywise Would be cool to see a stand alone piece with a lot of legendary pirates, unlike pirates 3

hell i would love to see the non-fiction version of exploits of the demented Tew....and NOT a disney or fantasy film. It would have to be R rated.

Blackbeard was known as a very "nice' Pirate. No torturing and he tended to let his captives go on his weakest sship while he would take ship they were after.

Now Thomas Tew...THAT was a sadistic SOB. He would makleone hell opf an opponenet for Jack.

If they are going to use blackbeared i wish they would have at leat use the original pirate flag. The one they are using is absolutly amazing but its nto truth.

Speaking of Tew i did notive that h is flag appeared in piates3...the asian ship that Elizabeth Swan take over. I'm a [rate fanatic and so that game me the chills to see Tew's flag although there are terrible stories...like the story in which Tew cuts off the lips of the ca[tan he he is robbing, melts them ad forcess said pirate into drinking his own melted ears. Now that is Wicked.

This is probably a good idea, the story arc is sometimes what i felt brought the movie to its knees.

I doubt that the Pirates of the Caribbean movies after Pirates 4 and including Pirates 4, would end up like that. I don't think would happen.
