Beloved 1980s video game characters are turned against humanity in the first full trailer for Sony Pictures' Pixels, following the trailer preview released yesterday. Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, Kevin James and Josh Gad lead an impressive ensemble cast in this action-comedy, loosely based on the innovative 2010 short film of the same name by French filmmaker Patrick Jean. While that short simply showed the world being taken over by 1980s-style video game pixels, this adaptation takes that premise to a whole new level.

In Pixels, intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them and attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Michelle Monaghan plays the team's unique weapons specialist.

Jane Krakowski, Ashley Benson, Sean Bean, Brian Cox and Lainie Kazan round out the supporting cast for director Chris Columbus' summer adventure, which hits theaters July 24. Will Pixels have enough appeal to pull gamers away from their consoles this summer? Take a look at the latest footage, and chime in with your thoughts below.
