According to Variety, New York-based Plum Pictures has optioned English-language remake rights to the Michael Haneke-directed French thriller Cache.

The film follows a popular TV personality and his wife, who find videos of their family and alarming drawings with obscure meaning left on their porch. The videos keep coming and the footage becomes more personal and violent.

The film premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May and won the director award, the Fipresci prize and the prize of the Ecumenical Jury. It landed seven nominations at the European Film Awards and won prizes for film, director, actor, editor and the film critics award. It won the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. for foreign language film.

Celine Rattray, Galt Niederhoffer and Daniela Taplin Lundberg of Plum Pictures will produce the remake. Randy Simon will executive produce.

Cache is scheduled to hit theaters in Los Angeles and New York on Dec. 23 via Sony Pictures Classics.
