Just hours after Édgar Ramírez signed on to star in the Point Break remake, Warner Bros. Pictures has issued an August 7, 2015 release date. The action-thriller will go up against Sony's Goosebumps and 20th Century Fox's Assassin's Creed.

Gerard Butler was initially set to star as Bodhi, although he was forced to bow out last week due to a combination of creative differences and scheduling conflicts with his sequel London Has Fallen, which lead to Édgar Ramírez replacing him earlier today. Luke Bracey is starring as FBI agent Johnny Utah, who infiltrates the extreme sports world to investigate a string of robberies. Ray Winstone is starring as Utah's FBI veteran partner, who was originally played by Gary Busey in the original Point Break.

Ericson Core (Invincible) is directing from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Salt). Warner Bros. and Alcon are currently prepping to begin production in June.
