In 2016, the new animated adventure Pokemon XY & Z the Movie will premiere in Japan. And today, we have a first look at the poster, which features an all-new Steam Pokemon named Volcanion! This new mythical Pokemon will also be featured in the latest game, though he cannot be encountered during regular gameplay.

Unlike any Pokémon discovered before it, this Pokémon is both a Fire and Water type. It uses fire and water to create steam within its body, expelling explosive shock waves and boiling steam from the arms on its back. The power is said to be great enough to blow away an entire mountain, gouging out the earth and changing the shape of the land.

Volcanion is not only featured on the new poster for Pokemon XY & Z the Movie, but an official video has also been revealed showing the character as part of the video game world. Volcanion has been revealed as the final current generation Pokemon, and will launch next year as part of the current Pokemon games for Nintendo 3DS. The massive creature is officially the 721st Pokemon to debut in this ever-popular monster-catching universe.

Pokemon XY & Z the Movie will introduce Volcanion to Japanese audiences on the big screen starting July 16, 2016. Though a domestic release date has not been announced. The monster will play a key role in this 19th feature film based on the franchise. The creature is unique in that he is the first Pokemon ever to be able to wield both fire and water ability types. He is being marketed as the first ever 'Steam' Pokemon. After seeing this latest Pokemon, you now might be asking yourself, 'How do I catch him?'

It was announced by the Pokemon Company that Volcanion is going to show up in all current generations of the Pokemon game. This includes both X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire. Though, there is no confirmation as to how or exactly when Volcanion will be made available. Other recent legendary launches required gamers to connect their 3DS to the wifi at either a McDonadls or GameStop. Right now, you can still get the Hoopa Pokemon at McDonalds in a promotion that lasts throughout the end of the year. More will be released about acquiring Volcanion in the New Year soon. The Pokemon Company has made it clear that this is the final new Pokemon being released for the current generation of games. That can only mean that a new Pokemon game is coming soon, possibly sometime next year.
