‘Poltergeist’ Adds Saxon Sharbino

Saxon Sharbino joins the Poltergeist remakeTouch actress Saxon Sharbino has signed on to star in MGM and Fox 2000's Poltergeist remake.

The actress will play Kendra Bowen, the 16-year-old daughter of Rosemarie DeWitt and Sam Rockwell, and the oldest of their three children. Like many typical teenagers, Kendra is trying to distance herself from her family. However, when she realizes that a demonic force within her home feeds off the isolation of others, she bands together with her family to save her younger brother. Kyle Catlett is playing another one of the Bowen kids, with Jared Harris portraying the host of a TV series entitled Haunted House Cleaners.

Gil Kenan (City of Ember, Monster House) is directing from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz: The Great and Powerful, Rise of the Guardians). Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing through their Ghost House Pictures company, with Roy Lee and Nathan Kahane executive producing. Production began September 23 in Toronto.

Aside from playing Maria Bello's daughter on Season 2 of Touch, Saxon Sharbino also starred in Trust Me and the I Spit on Your Grave remake.

Poltergeist comes to theaters May 22nd, 2015.
