DC Comics already has a big presence on the small screen, with three hit shows on The CW, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, along with Fox's Gotham and CBS' Supergirl. NBC has officially announced that they have issued a series order for their new series set within the DC Comics universe, Powerless. Although it isn't known exactly when the show will premiere yet. The network will likely unveil more details during its upfront presentation next week, but, for now, we have the first photos featuring stars Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi and Alan Tudyk, along with the official plot description.

"In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens (Grease Live, High School Musical) plays Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It's when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult "hero" in her own right ... even if it's just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn't always require superpowers."

Vanessa Hudgens and Danny Pudi lead a cast that also includes Alan Tudyk and Christina Kirk in leading roles. The supporting cast is rounded out by John Lithgow, Nicholas D'Agosto, Jayma Mays, Sherri Shepherd, Steven Boyer and Krysta Rodriguez. Back in March, we got our first look at the Crimson Fox in this new NBC series with photos that surfaced from the set of the pilot, and we can see part of the Crimson Fox in costume in one of these photos.

The project will be a half-hour single-camera comedy series from creator Ben Queen, who previously created NBC's short-lived sitcom A to Z. Michael Patrick Jann directed the pilot episode, who will executive produce with Ben Queen. It has been rumored that the show will feature appearances from numerous different DC Comics characters. Although, aside from Crimson Fox, no specific characters have been mentioned.

NBC will most likely be releasing the first trailer for Powerless during their upfront presentation in New York City next week, so be sure to stay tuned for that, along with more details about the DC Comics comedy series. It isn't known yet if the series will debut this fall, or if it's being held for a midseason debut, but we'll keep you posted as soon as more information is released. Until then, take a look at the first photos from DC's Powerless.
