Last week, AMC released the first footage from Preacher, with the full trailer debuting during tonight's episode of The Walking Dead. Today, we finally got the trailer for this highly-anticipated comic book adaptation during AMC"s "The Walking Dead Mega Sunday" event. Seth Rogen announced that AMC has issued a full 10 episode season order for Preacher.

Based on the twisted and popular '90s comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher, created by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print - an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers - a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

The supporting cast includes Jamie Anne Allman as Betsy Schenk, Thomas Barbusca as Chris Schenk, W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root, Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, Lucas Neff as J.J. Quinncannon, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenk. Seth Rogen originally let it slip last month that the series will debut in May 2016, although an exact date hasn't been confirmed yet. The network will only say that the show is set to premiere in"mid-2016."

The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (This Is the End, Superbad, Neighbors) and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). The beloved comic book was being set up as a feature film adaptation for many years, with director D.J. Caruso once set to take the helm, working from a script by John August. Sam Mendes and Darren Aronofsky were attached to direct at various points in time over the year years, but the project never got off the ground.

While AMC hasn't announced a premiere date for Preacher yet, it's possible that the show could fill the Sunday 9 PM time slot in mid-2016, since that will be right around the time that The Walking Dead Season 6 will be wrapping up.
