Author/screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith is now in the running to direct his own adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for Lionsgate, with Craig Gillespie still in the mix as well.

We reported last month that Craig Gillespie is in talks to take over the project, after Mike White stepped away in January. Now Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote the novel the movie is based on and adapted the screenplay himself, could possibly co-direct with his producing partner, David Katzenberg, the son of DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg run Katzsmith Productions, where they created the MTV series The Hard Times of RJ Berger. If they land the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies directing gig, it would be the feature directorial debut for both Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a retooled version of the classic Jane Austen novel, which features the characters Elizabeth Bennett and James Darcy fighting off zombies.

No production schedule was given for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
