Jeff Bridges is in talks to star in the Universal Pictures comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. alongside Ryan Reynolds. It isn't clear what character Jeff Bridges will play yet.

Earlier this month we reported that Zach Galifianakis dropped out of R.I.P.D. due to scheduling issues, and because it is still unclear when R.I.P.D. will go into production. Warner Bros. still holds options to a Green Lantern sequel, which Ryan Reynolds will star in if the first movie is a hit.

Robert Schwentke will direct R.I.P.D. from a screenplay by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, which is adapted from the comic book series created by Peter M. Lenkov.

It still isn't known when R.I.P.D. will start production, although with a new cast member on board, it seems filming could start in the near future.
