Rebel Wilson is attached to star in New Line Cinema's comedy remake of Private Benjamin for New Line Cinema.

Goldie Hawn starred in the original Private Benjamin, which was released in 1980, as a young woman named Judy, who decides to join the Army after her husband suddenly dies on her wedding night. This new version follows a redneck (Rebel Wilson) and a rich city girl who decide to join the Marines to escape their current lifestyles, getting in way over their heads in the process. The original movie also spawned a Private Benjamin TV series, which ran for three seasons between 1981 and 1983.

Mark Gordon is producing, with the studio currently seeking a new director for the project. The remake has been in the works for several years, with the producer attaching Anna Faris to star back in March 2010 before moving on and taking the project in another direction.

Rebel Wilson most recently starred in the ABC sitcom Super Fun Night, and she will next be seen on the big screen in He's F***ing Perfect, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Pitch Perfect 2.
