Reese Witherspoon teams up with Sofia Vergara for Don't Mess with TexasReese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara are set to star in Don't Mess With Texas, a project that Universal Pictures just acquired after a heated bidding war.

John Quaintance and David Feeney wrote the spec screenplay, which centers on a female cop and prisoner who go on the run together in Texas, trying to outrun a group of corrupt police officers.

Reese Witherspoon is also producing with her Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea and Dana Fox. John Quaintance and David Feeney previously wrote for the Fox sitcom Ben and Kate, which was executive produced by Dana Fox. Universal is putting this project on the fast track, with production to begin in March 2014.

Reese Witherspoon can currently be seen in the indie drama Mud, and is attached to numerous project such as Inherent Vice, Passengers, and Three Little Words.

Sofía Vergara will next be seen on the big screen in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills.
