If you've been following actress Milla Jovovich on Twitter, you likely know that, over the past few days, the actress has teased that the first trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will debut on August 9. The actress also revealed that just after the trailer drops, she will be hosting a live Q&A on her Facebook page. Today, with just four days left until the trailer's debut, the actress shared a brief trailer preview that showcases the first footage of Milla Jovovich's iconic character Alice.

The video, which Milla Jovovich debuted on Twitter today, is only 16 seconds long, but we do hear Alice say she's going to "kill every last one of them," while we get a brief glimpse at a bloodied Alice riding a motorcycle through an explosion. Production wrapped back in December, with Milla Jovovich sending out the final set photos to fans, but we haven't heard much since then. Sony Pictures showcased the first footage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, but it was never released online.

The story follows Alice Abernathy (Milla Jovovich) as she continues her battle against The Umbrella Corporation's hostile AI system The Red Queen (Megan Charpentier) with the help of her friends Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), Leon Scott Kennedy (Johann Urb), Ada Wong (Li Bingbing), and her daughter Becky (Aryanna Engineer), while continuing an uneasy alliance with the former head of Umbrella, Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts). Along the way, they will reconnect with former comrades Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller), Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), and Kmart (Spencer Locke). Their epic battle will lead them back to where it all began in the dark mansion built by Umbrella founder Lord Ozwell E. Spencer and the deep underground research and development center known as The Hive, where The Red Queen plots total destruction over the human race.

The supporting cast also includes newcomers such as Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, Ruby Rose as Abigail, Jun-ki Lee as Lee, Eoin Macken as Doc, William Levy as Christian, Fraser James as Michael and Japanese model Rola as Cobalt. Paul W.S. Anderson directs from his own screenplay and serves as producer alongside Jeremy Bolt, Robert Kulzer and Samuel Hadida. Martin Moszkowicz and Victor Hadida serve as executive producers for this franchise finale.

Sony has set a January 27, 2017 release date for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which puts it up against Warner Bros.' comedy Bastards starring Owen Wilson, Universal's comedy A Dog's Purpose starring Dennis Quaid and Britt Robertson and EuropaCorp's thriller The Lake starring Sullivan Stapleton. The movie will also open a week before XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Split, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone and the nationwide expansion of The Founder, following its Oscar-qualifying run. Take a look at the first footage from Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and check back on August 9 for the first full trailer.
