Universal Pictures is getting back in business with Liam Neeson, acquiring an action-comedy pitch entitled The Revenger for the actor to star in. The pitch comes from screenwriters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who will write the script, with Ruben Fleischer attached to direct. No story details have been released, since the logline is being kept under wraps, according to Deadline.

Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will produce for their Universal-based Bluegrass Films banner. Ruben Fleischer is also producing with his partner David Bernad for The District. Liam Neeson previously collaborated with Bluegrass Films and Universal Pictures on this summer's comedy sequel Ted 2. It isn't known when production may begin on this project.

Liam Neeson has been busier than ever over the past few years, after the 2009 surprise hit Taken turned him into a bona fide action movie icon, although he still finds plenty of time for comedy projects. Just last year alone, the actor starred in a pair of animated movies (The Nut Job and The Lego Movie), two action-thrillers (Non-Stop and A Walk Among the Tombstones) and a comedy (A Million Ways to Die in the West). He also returned as the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn in one of the final episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars last year.

Ruben Fleischer last directed the 2013 crime drama Gangster Squad. We reported last year that the long-awaited sequel to his directorial debut, Zombieland, is moving forward, with Ruben Fleischer coming back to direct Zombieland 2 from a script by Dave Callaham. He also recently directed an episode of Marry Me, and an upcoming episode of Superstore.

Earlier this year, Liam Neeson starred in Run All Night, Entourage and Ted 2. He lends his voice to the upcoming A Christmas Star, and, next year, he will be seen in two high-profile projects, Martin Scorsese's Silence and Juan Antonio Bayona's A Monster Calls.
