This should come as no October surprise. We're getting more of Kevin Hart and Ice Cube's smooth and hilarious chemistry in the upcoming comedy sequel Ride Along 3. The script is already in the development stage. Series writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will be back to further tell the tales of James and his undercover brother-in-law Ben.

The Wrap recently caught up with director Tim Story, who confirmed that he is returning to direct Ride Along 3. The filmmaker was also the one who confirmed that both Kevin Hart and Ice Cube would return. Which makes sense. Without either star, would it really be a Ride Along movie? Says Tim Story.

"We're writing the script right now, we're writing away and basically, I'm waiting to see some pages and we're excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world. I'm impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas."

The Ride Along movies have proven to be a major box office success. Together, they have grossed a combined $225 million at the domestic box office. Tim Story directed both the original and its sequel. Other actors who have come along for the ride thus far include Olivia Munn, Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo and Laurence Fishburne. The first movie arrived in 2014, and a sequel was quickly ordered. It arrived just earlier this year.

Before Ride Along 3 hits theaters, Tim Story and Ice Cube are teaming up on Humbug, which retools the Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, with Ice Cube playing the titular role of Scrooge. Tim Story is also known for directing the first Fantastic Four movies from 20th Century Fox as well as Think Like a Man and Taxi. Kevin Hart can be seen on the big screen this weekend in the new comedy concert movie What Now?.
