After more than a decade of directing horror movies such as House Of 1000 Corpses, Halloween and The Lords of Salem, Rob Zombie is attached to direct the Groucho Marx biopic Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho's House. The project is based on the book of the same name by Steve Stoliar, with Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart) set to write the adapted screenplay. The director acquired the rights to this book himself along with producer Miranda Bailey.

The book recounts author Steve Stoliar's experiences in working for the legendary comedian Groucho Marx as his personal assistant and archivist in the last years of his life. While the author got to meet beloved celebrities such as Mae West, George Burns, Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon and Steve Allen, the downside was getting close to the comedian as his time was winding down, and being forced to deal with Erin Fleming, the woman in charge of his personal and professional life. Here's what Rob Zombie had to say about the book.

"I have been a huge Groucho Marx fan ever since I was a child and have read countless book on the comic legend, but after reading the book Raised Eyebrows, a totally new perspective on Groucho's life emerged. I immediately saw this project as Groucho's Sunset Boulevard and knew I had to bring it to the big screen. It is a sad, funny and very dark tale of a one of Hollywood's greatest stars final years."

It isn't known when production will get under way, but Rob Zombie is currently shooting his next horror thriller 31. He is also developing Broad Street Bullies, which centers on the famed Philadelphia Flyers hockey team from the 1970s, known for their bruising ways. It remains to be seen if Raised Eyebrows will be the director's next project, or if it will be Broad Street Bullies, which has been in development for some time now.
