While doing press for his new drama The Company You Keep, Robert Redford confirmed he is playing the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Here's what he had to say about the role, which was announced a few weeks back.

"Well, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Captain America thing is just a very simple thing. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something just to be different. Something bold, different. And that felt like a good thing to do. That was it, nothing more to it than that. Well, it's bold in terms of expectations, I guess."

The actor's latest statement echoes his previous remarks about the role, when he said he liked, "the idea of stepping into new territory." Robert Redford joins a cast that includes Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, and Emily VanCamp.
