The Deep Blue Goodbye: According to The Hollywood Reporter, German helmer Robert Schwentke has signed on to direct 20th Century Fox's long-gestating feature The Deep Blue Goodbye.

The film is based on the first in the series of Travis McGee detective novels written by author John MacDonald. Dana Stevens adapted the book, which will be produced by her For Love of the Game producer, Amy Robinson.

Schwentke is directing Flightplan, a thriller starring Jodie Foster. He cut his teeth directing episodes of the German crime scene investigation program "Tatort -- Mordergrube." He made his feature directing debut in 2002 with the thriller Tattoo.
