With MGM's financial troubles behind them, the studio is focusing on the spate of remakes and sequels they have in the pipeline. One of those projects is RoboCop, and it seems the studio is eyeing Chris Pine for the lead role.

Back in April, we reported that actors such as Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Keanu Reeves were being considered for the lead role. Now it seems the studio wants a younger leading man with Chris Pine, although an official offer has not been made to the actor quite yet. Chris Pine is only 30 years old, while Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Keanu Reeves are all in their late 40s.

José Padilha is directing RoboCop from a screenplay by Joshua Zetumer. It still isn't known if Joshua Zetumer has completed a screenplay draft yet, or when MGM is looking to start production.
