‘Robocop’ Wants ‘The Killing’'s Joel Kinnaman

An offer is going out to the actor for the lead role in Jose Padilha's remake of the seminal 1987 sci-fi action film.

Joel Kinnaman wanted for Robocop remake MGM is pushing full-steam ahead on their long gestating RoboCop remake, and are about to offer The Killing's Joel Kinnaman the lead.

Joel Kinnaman will play Murphy, a police officer left for dead while on duty, who is revived via a robotic body and sent back out into the dangerous streets of Detroit, sometime in the very near future.

José Padilha, the director behind Elite Squad and its sequel Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, is helming RoboCop from a script by Joshua Zetumer.

MGM hopes to have RoboCop in front of cameras before the end of the year for a 2013 summer release date.

RoboCop was released February 12th, 2014.
