Last month, IMAX unveiled theater standees for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which featured a number of hidden messages in the Aurebesh language. With just over a month left until this movie hits theaters, a new IMAX poster has been released, which shows all of the main characters assembled in the shape of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Fans who attend opening night screenings of Rogue One in IMAX will get to take home their own mini-posters.

USA Today debuted this poster, which features Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) and Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed). The site has also put together a two-minute video that shows where Rogue One fits within the Star Wars timeline. The story takes place between the final prequel Revenge of the Sith and the one that started it all, A New Hope.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing Star Wars: Rogue One, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Gareth Edwards directs from a script by Chris Weitz, based on a story by Gary Whitta and John Knoll. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, going up against Warner Bros.' Collateral Beauty, starring Will Smith.

Rogue One will be the first of three Star Wars standalone movies that have been confirmed thus far. The second will focus on a young Han Solo, set before A New Hope, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as the beloved smuggler and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, which is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. The third spin-off is believed to center on Boba Fett, which is expected to hit theaters in 2020.
