As expected, LucasFilm's new Star Wars spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which scored a huge opening weekend at the box office, with $155.5 million domestic and $290.5 million worldwide. The film was also highly regarded by both fans and critics alike, and it seems one of its legions of fans is one of the main Star Wars saga stars, Mark Hamill. Although he doesn't appear in Rogue One, the iconic actor had nothing but positive things to say about the film on social media. Here's what he had to say below.

"Perfect Cast Astonishing Action Non-Stop Thrills Grabs U from the 1st frame & never lets go! Not just a great #SWMovie A #GreatMovie PERIOD! I'm euphoric & exhilarated! Ingenious the way it deepens & expands the #SWUniverse yet works as a stand-alone movie #RogueOneDerful #Triumph"

Mark Hamill revealed this praise on Twitter this weekend, but he wasn't the only famous fan to publicly praise the film. Shortly after the world premiere last Saturday night, the early reactions from famous fans on Twitter were overwhelmingly positive, with celebrities and actors such as Wil Wheaton, Rainn Wilson, Chris Hardwick and a number of critics expressed their adoration for this movie, which has an impressive score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. This stand-alone adventure could very well set the tone for the long-ranging future of the entire franchise.

As of now, we know that Star Wars 8 will hit theaters next December, followed by the Han Solo spin-off, starring Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover, with Star Wars 9 arriving at some point in 2019 and a third spin-off, rumored to center on Boba Fett, reportedly following in 2020. LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy made an interesting statement last month, claiming that the studio could possibly switch to only stand-alone movies after Star Wars 9, although she clarified that a decision on that approach hasn't been finalized yet. Still, we have at least three or four more movies to go before the future of the Star Wars franchise needs to be mapped out further.

There was also another rumor that surfaced last week which claimed Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso would return in a proposed Luke Skywalker spin-off. That report claimed that Felicity Jones is under contract at LucasFilm to return as Jyn Erso in a new sequel, which doesn't necessarily make sense, since Jyn Erso, and the rest of her team of Rebels, died in Rogue One. It has been widely reported that the ending of Rogue One changed drastically during reshoots, so it's possible that this sequel clause of her contract was in place before the ending was changed. There are also rumors that LucasFilm is now developing a Luke Skywalking spin-off, which Felicity Jones woud return in, to fulfill her contract obligations.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. Take a look at Mark Hamill's tweets offering high praise for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
