Today in London, Gareth Edwards (Director) and Kathleen Kennedy (Producer) kicked off Star Wars Celebration with an exclusive new look at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They welcomed surprise special guests from the film Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Executive Producer John Knoll and Head of Story Kiri Hart. The talented team of filmmakers and actors shared a behind-the-scenes sneak peek along with a brand-new teaser poster.

This Rogue One preview, courtesy of LucasFilm, offers a number of exciting revelations, including the confirmation of Warwick Davis' involvement in this spinoff. The actor started his career by playing the iconic Ewok Wicket in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and he also played a number of characters in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and he returned for last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Wollivan, who was seen in Maz Kanata's (Lupita Nyong'o) castle. We don't know for sure if he's returning as Wollivan, or playing a new character, but this video also possibly teased Maz Kanata's inclusion as well.

At the 1:46 mark of the video below, there is a montage of quick shots with several different characters, including one which appears to be the partially-obscured face of Lupita Nyong'o. We learned in Star Wars: The Force Awakens that Maz Kanata is over 1,000 years old when we meet her in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so it's certainly possible she could surface in this movie. Hopefully we'll get confirmation about whether or not this character is in fact Maz Kanata in the near future.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a prequel movie that takes place in the time between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire's planet destroying weapon, the Death Star. The band of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans is being led by Jyn Erso, who has been described as a "Joan of Arc" character by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. She is accompanied by a mixed bag of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Empire's new, deadly weapon.

This first Star Wars spinoff movie introduces a bunch of new characters who are being played by some top notch talent. The cast includes Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang and Forest Whitaker, who is playing Saw Gerrera from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The movie is directed by Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards. The script was written by Chris Weitz, with the story by Gary Whitta and John Knoll. Take a look at this new behind-the-scenes video, along with the poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hitting theaters December 16.
