Now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has brought fans back to their beloved galaxy far, far away, Disney and LucasFilm are exploring different eras of this universe, starting with the first spinoff, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The plot is set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, centering on a team of Rebel soldiers who embark on a mission to steal plans for the first Death Star. There is still much we don't know about this adventure, including the identities of any of the main characters, but today we have a new report from Making Star Wars that could shed some light on the story. While these details have yet to be confirmed, there may be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

Back in September, Rogue One star Mads Mikkelsen signed an autograph for a fan, revealing that his name is Galen in this new adventure. Many fans have speculated that he could be Galen Marek from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game. This character was the secret apprentice to Darth Vader, who went on to become instrumental in the formation of the Rebel Alliance, after uniting several of the Empire's enemies. While we still don't know for sure if Mads Mikkelsen is playing Galen Marek or not, these new details seem to hint it's possible.

This character is said to be a scientist who took over the Geonosian Death Star project, solving several of the space station's key flaws. He was revered by the Empire, but this report compares him to Robert Oppenheimer, who helped design the atomic bomb and later felt remorse for the death and destruction he helped create. Mads Mikkelsen's character reportedly flees from the Empire, and tries to "make things right," by enlisting the help of his only daughter, Felicity Jones' character.

Felicity Jones' character is trying to "undo the devastation" her family has created in the galaxy. It was earlier rumored that her character was a bounty hunter, but that may not be true, given her connection to this scientist. The site also mentions that their report from earlier this week, which claimed that the actress' character may be Lyla Erso, may not be accurate. The name came from a casting website which profiled Gabrielle Fritz, who was believed to be the photo double for Felicity Jones, and mentioned the character name Lyla Erso. The site heard from another source, though, that Gabrielle Fritz is not doubling for Felicity Jones, so it seems that won't be her character name.

In related news, Jedi News reports that Guy Henry, best known as Pius Thickness in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, has signed on to join the cast. The site believes that he is an Imperial Officer of some kind, but no other character details were given. Finally, Making Star Wars also has a detailed scene description from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which involves a crashed X-Wing on a planet similar to Mos Espa or Tatooine. Here's an excerpt from the scene description, involving two unidentified but seemingly important characters.

"On the street, two men walk in front of the wreckage of the black-and-white X-wing fighter. It isn't clear if they were a part of the crash or if it was just a part of their entrance. The first man has a long rifle that in spirit seems to resemble Doc Brown's riffle from Back to the Future Part III. He has a black leather trench coat on. His mask is dull red and the visor is like a cross between Kylo Ren and and the Imperial guards from Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. The other man has a brown trench coat and a really big rifle with a stock that reminds me of the guns used on Hoth by the rebels in The Empire Strikes Back. If I had to guess, I would say these two are probably bounty hunters or two of the coolest extras of all time."

Of course, none of these details have been confirmed, but this description reportedly comes from one of the practical sets of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which may have been shot on the Pinewood Studios backlot. It was also reported this week that the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will debut with Captain America: Civil War, but that hasn't been confirmed either. What do you think about these new details?
