We are just weeks away from the release of a brand new Star Wars movie and Disney is really starting to get the hype train in full motion. During their Disney Thanksgiving Day Holiday Celebration, they offered us a brand new, exclusive look at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. If you weren't already excited enough, this should certainly help.

The special aired on ABC and is intended to be a new holiday tradition for Disney. Since Disney now owns Star Wars, we can safely assume a galaxy far far away will be part of this Disney Holiday Celebration every year as well. It certainly was this year, and now we have some new footage and an even better look at Star Wars: Rogue One, officially titled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the very first Star Wars spinoff movie ever.

Prequel isn't exactly a word that most Star Wars fans are fond of, which is probably why Disney isn't using it when talking about this movie. But Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a prequel movie that takes place in the time between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope, but it definitely seems like a far cry from the George Lucas prequel trilogy. The movie tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire's planet-destroying weapon, the Death Star, a story that was originally teased in the opening crawl of the original Star Wars in 1977. The band of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans is being led by Jyn Erso, who is being played by Felicity Jones. She is accompanied by a mixed bag of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Empire's new weapon.

One thing that Rogue One will have going for it that Star Wars: The Force Awakens didn't is the presence of Darth Vader, arguably the greatest movie villain of all time. Because of the placement of the movie within the Star Wars timeline, director Gareth Edwards was able to make use of the famed Sith Lord. Keep in mind, this is a period of time before Star Wars: A New Hope, so we have really never seen Darth Vader during this time in a Star Wars movie before. Not only that, but James Earl Jones returned to once again provide the voice of Darth Vader. With the villain being an increasingly prominent focus of the marketing material, that may help propel the movie to something truly special.

Tickets for Star Wars: Rogue One had already gone on sale in the U.K. a couple of days before this Disney Holiday Celebration aired, so many fans in the U.S. were wondering when they would be able to get their hands on tickets for the opening weekend. Well, the answer is Monday. At the end of the exclusive look, it was announced that tickets are on sale now for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story next week. So if you want to be one of the first to see it, get on the ball sooner rather than later. The movie is tracking for a massive opening weekend, as anyone would expect, so tickets will go quickly for the early showings.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars the previously mentioned Felicity Jones as well as Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang and Forest Whitaker. The movie is being directed by Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release on December 16, 2016.
