Director Ron Howard is attached to direct an adaptation of Under the Banner of Heaven for Warner Bros., just a day after Universal Pictures passed on the director's epic project The Dark Tower.

Dustin Lance Black (Milk) will adapt the 2003 book by Jon Krakauer, who also wrote the book that the 2007 drama Into the Wild was based on. The story centers on two brothers, who murdered the wife and infant daughter of their younger brother, claiming they were acting on orders from God.

Ron Howard will also produce with his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer along with Shannon Costello, Jason Bateman, and Stephanie Davis.

Warner Bros. is also mentioned as a new home for Ron Howard's The Dark Tower. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer produced the biopic J. Edgar, which Dustin Lance Black also wrote, for Warner Bros.
