Rooney Mara is attached to star in Brooklyn, which will be produced by Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey (An Education).

Nick Hornby will adapt the screenplay from Colm Toibin's novel, which centers on a small-town Irish woman who must decide between two men in two different cities. The producers are currently seeking a director, and are eyeing a spring 2013 shoot.

We reported yesterday that the actress signed on for the Untitled Spike Jonze Project, which she will shoot later this year after wrapping on The Bitter Pill.

The adaptation will be budgeted between $20 million and $25 million.
