Director Darren Aronofsky has finally landed his leading man for the biblical epic Noah, with Russell Crowe in negotiations to portray the title character.

We reported earlier this month that Russell Crowe was being sought for the role, although talks hadn't taken place yet. Now it is said that both the actor and Paramount are actively working out a deal for Russell Crowe to star. The story is a revisionist take on the Bibilical tale of Noah, who loves Earth and all of its creations, but becomes bitter when he sees how humans are treating the planet.

Darren Aronofsky is directing Noah from a script he co-wrote with Ari Handel. John Logan (Hugo) performed the latest rewrite. Production is scheduled to begin on Noah in July. Paramount Pictures is distributing and co-financing Noah along with New Regency.
