The Killing star Joel Kinnaman has joined the cast of Safe House for Universal Pictures. Earlier today, we reported that Vera Farmiga had also joined the cast.

Joel Kinnaman will portray the man who runs the Safe House, which comes under attack and causes a CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds) to lead a notorious criminal (Denzel Washington) to safety. It is said that Joel Kinnaman's character plays a pivotal role in the story.

Daniel Espinosa is directing Safe House from a screenplay by David Guggenheim. The project will reunite Joel Kinnaman with Daniel Espinosa, who directed the actor in Easy Money a.k.a. Snabba Cash.

It seems to be a good day for the cast of the new AMC series The Killing. We also reported, just hours ago, that series star Mireille Enos is in talks for a role in World War Z. In The Killing, both Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman portray Seattle detectives trying to solve the mysterious murder of a teenage girl, Rosie Larson.

Safe House is currently in production in South Africa.
