In a story from Variety, Sam Worthington (Avatar) is going to star in the murder mystery Texas Killing Fields. Michael Mann will be producing this film via his Forward Pass production company.

Mann's daughter, Ami Canaan Mann, is going to direct this project from a screenplay by Donald F. Ferrarone. The movie will start shooting in April in Louisiana.

The movie is based on a "true story of a pair of police officers who undertook to solve two decades of disappearances and homicides -- totalling as many as 60 victims -- in the industrial wastelands surrounding Gulf Coast refineries."

Worthington will play a hometown homicide detective who joins forces with a New York transplant to fight back against the unknown killers.

Bill Block's QED International is financing this project.

Sam Worthington will next be seen in Clash Of The Titans opening in theaters on April 2nd.
