Last month, it was confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, there are still two more Marvel Phase II movies hitting theaters before that sequel, with Iron Man 3 arriving May 3, 2013 and Thor: The Dark World debuting November 8, 2013. Today, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that Nick Fury will not be popping up in Iron Man 3 or Thor: The Dark World.

"I think my next time as Nick Fury is in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Because I'm not in Iron Man 3. None of the Avengers are in Iron Man 3. It's a standalone Iron Man movie."

After that, The Avengers 2 will likely be the next Nick Fury appearance, unless he makes some sort of surprise cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor is still working under a massive nine-picture deal he signed with Marvel Studios. He has appeared in five movies so far (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Marvel's The Avengers). It isn't clear how he will fulfill the remainder of his contract as of yet.
