Saoirse Ronan confirmed a report from earlier this month that she has auditioned for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, adding that practically every actor in town is auditioning for this highly-anticipated sequel.

"So has everyone..."

The report from a few weeks ago indicated that she may have read for the female villain in director J.J. Abrams' sci-fi adventure. However, she wouldn't comment on what character she read for, saying that if she revealed any further information, the bosses would...

"Chop off [my] head with a lightsaber..."

The actress turned down the coveted role of Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon's superhero sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it was speculated that she passed on the project for a shot at Star Wars: Episode VII.

The only thing that has been confirmed regarding Star Wars: Episode VII so far is that J.J. Abrams is directing from a screenplay by Michael Arndt, and that production will take place in London's Pinewood Studios early next year.

Saoirse Ronan recently starred in The Host, Violet & Daisy and Byzantium. She will next be seen in How I Live Now and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
