Throughout Seth Rogen's career, he has not once made a sequel to one of his hit movies, but that may change with Sausage Party 2. The actor/writer/producer teased last month that Sausage Party was the first time they ended a movie "with the intention of making aother one." While Sony hasn't officially given the green light for Sausage Party 2 quite yet, that surely may happen, after it overperformed and took second place at the box office this weekend with $33.6 million. While we wait for an official announcement, Seth Rogen teased in a new interview that he already has sequel ideas.

Sausage Party is a raunchy animated movie about one sausage's quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale. During an interview with Fandango, Seth Rogen teased the original ending for Sausage Party, and how that could lead into Sausage Party 2.

"It's something we talk about, yeah. That's one of the reasons why we took away the [original] ending because we thought, well, if that was the first scene of the next movie it's probably not what you would want it to be, with them just seeing us and finding us basically. But the idea of a live-action/animated movie, like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit?-style hybrid is also very exciting, mostly because Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is one of my favorite movies of all time."

The original ending was shown to fans who attended the South By Southwest work-in-progress screening, where the animated characters step through a portal, and into our live-action world, where they discover the actors that actually voice them. The meta ending was compared by many to The Lego Movie, but now it seems that element may be saved for Part 2. During an interview from last month, Seth Rogen teased that he wants to keep making animated movies for the rest of his life. He has plenty of ideas for more of them.

"We have ideas for other R-rated animated movies that have nothing to do with Sausage Party, and we're hoping this goes well so we get to make them. And hopefully it won't take this long to make the next one because it won't take five years to convince someone to make it. The whole problem before was there was no precedent for it, so hopefully Sausage Party will show people that this is a viable thing to do... or it'll do the opposite and this will be the last R-rated animated movie that ever gets made!"

Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon direct this animated horror comedy, after establishing themselves in traditional animated fare. Greg Tiernan is best known for his work on the Thomas & Friends franchise, while Conrad Vernon has directed animated blockbusters such as Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 3.
