Saving Private Ryan: According to Variety, a special edition of Saving Private Ryan is being finalized for a release May 25th that features many more bonus features than the original disc.

The single-disc "Ryan" released in 1998 included only a making-of program and a message from Spielberg.

The new "Saving Private Ryan Special Collector's Edition" from DreamWorks is a two-disc set priced at $19.95 that will include numerous featurettes produced by Spielberg DVD producer Laurent Bouzereau, including new interviews with the director, Tom Hanks and other cast and crew about the making of the film, the historical context, the intense boot camp for the actors led by Capt. Dale Dye and many technical aspects of the production.

A deluxe four-disc collector's gift set will include two discs with TV programs on WWII exec produced by Spielberg, each available separately for $14.95.

One disc features director James Moll's 2002 WWII docu "Price for Peace," along with an introduction by Spielberg, commentary by Hugh Ambrose, a program on the use of dogs during WWII, Tom Brokaw's commentary from the NBC TV premiere and a short-film introduction to the National D-Day Museum.

The other supplementary disc features a Richard Schickel program hosted by Tom Hanks on ABC in 2000 called "Shooting War," a portrait of combat photographers.
