Actor Scott Eastwood reflected on his famous altercation with Shia LaBeouf. In the 2014 war drama Fury, Eastwood and LaBeouf were both a part of the ensemble cast alongside Brad Pitt. While filming the movie, things had come to a head, as Eastwood tells Insider in a new interview that it was a "volatile moment" and feels that the way he was treated by his co-stars quickly made things uncomfortable.

"I never think your process as an actor should ever hinder how people are treated on set," Eastwood said. "It should always enhance the production, not take away and put people in a situation where it's a s---y work environment or you're rude or people have to be in an uncomfortable situation."

Pitt provided his point of view on that whole story in a previous interview with GQ. As Pitt tells it, Eastwood had been chewing tobacco and spitting on the back of the tank the characters were using for the scene. Pitt and LaBeouf felt that Eastwood was disrespecting the production with this behavior, and Pitt told Eastwood he needed to clean it up with LaBeouf allegedly jumping in soon after to confront Eastwood.

"I said, in the scene with the cameras rolling, 'You're going to clean that s--- up.' Shia clocks it, and you have to understand, we've been through severe boot camp already, we've been through a lot in this tank. Shia saw it and felt the same — he's disrespecting our home," Pitt said. "So Shia had the same reaction I did, and started having some words."

Revealing a twist ending to the story, Pitt added, "The funny thing is, when we got home at the end of the day and read the script, it said Scotty's character is 'chewing tobacco and spitting it on the back of the tank.' He was just doing as instructed in the script! So we were the knobs in the end."

Fury was written and directed by David Ayer, who enjoyed Eastwood's performance so much that he brought him back for a role in Suicide Squad. While Ayer had bigger plans for Eastwood in the film, his character's presence was reduced in the theatrical cut, but he is said to get much more "love" in the unreleased Ayer Cut that fans keep clamoring for. In his Insider interview, Eastwood says how he turned down returning for James Gunn's sequel The Suicide Squad as he didn't know what would happen with his character, a fair concern after getting mostly chopped out of Suicide Squad.

"They didn't want to pay me any money for those next movies and ... they didn't have another script for the other movie, so I didn't know what I was going to be signing myself up for," Eastwood said. "I called my dad. I said, 'They don't want to pay me.' He said, 'If it feels like they really need you and if it's a good part, then do it. If not, then don't.' I didn't have the answer to those questions at that time. I wasn't going to have the answers, and they were pressuring me. So ultimately it didn't happen."

Scott Eastwood can be seen in the new Prime Video rom-com I Want You Back.
