David Koechner sheds some new light on his character Scout Leader Rogers in our exclusive preview from Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, which is currently available on Digital HD before arriving on Blu-ray and DVD January 5. While Rogers starts out as your average, exuberant scout leader, it doesn't take long for him to become one of the living dead in this outrageous comedy. As the actor explains in our exclusive preview, Rogers becomes a "Terminator zombie" who keeps popping up over and over again.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse stars Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller and newcomer Joey Morgan star as three Scouts and lifelong friends, who join forces with one bad-ass cocktail waitress (Halston Sage) to become the world's most unlikely team of heroes. When their peaceful town is ravaged by a zombie invasion, they'll fight for the badge of a lifetime and put their scouting skills to the test to save mankind from the undead. David Koechner, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Dumont and Cloris Leachman round out the supporting cast of this zombie comedy.

We also hear from director Christopher Landon, who reveals that David Koechner brings an "earnest quality" to Scout Leader Rogers. The filmmaker also added that this comedic heavyweight is "tough" to work with, since he often causes his co-stars and crew members to burst out laughing during takes. This preview also includes plenty of behind-the scenes footage during the production, showing David Koechner's Rogers going from a normal man with a full head of hair, to a burning, balding zombie.

Christopher Landon directs from a script he co-wrote with Emi Mochizuki, Carrie Evans and Lona Williams. Christopher Landon is no stranger to the horror genre, having written the scripts for Paranormal Activity 3, Paranormal Activity 4 and making his directorial debut last year with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. His other writing credits include Disturbia and Burning Palms.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse hit theaters less than two months ago, but, as part of a new distribution deal, this horror-comedy will arrive on home video and VOD much sooner than usual. Unfortunately, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse didn't fare so well in theaters, taking in just $3.7 million domestically and $14.5 million worldwide from a $15 million budget. But now you can enjoy this zombie comedy from the comfort of your own home on Digital HD, before the Blu-ray and DVD arrives January 5. Take a look at our exclusive preview to learn more about David Koechner's colorful character.
