Second ‘Luke Cage’ Trailer!

Back in late May, Isaiah Mustafa threw down the gauntlet in his bid to play Luke Cage on the big screen by flooding the internet with a fan-made teaser trailer. Now, Eric Thomas Wilson, whom you may remember from the 2009 drama Columbus Day, is throwing his own hat into the ring with a second fan-made trailer that stars the actor as the popular Marvel superhero. Check it out below. Who should play Luke Cage?

Whether or not LUKE CAGE is primed for feature treatment, this trailer represents some solid work. What did the "Old Sp*ce" one show other than some glowing eyes and Isaiah Mustafa standing around? Mustafa doesn't have the physique to play Cage. Nor the martial arts experience. This Eric Thomas Wilson cat seems to have both. Tyrese as Cage is a bad joke; if you've met the man, you know he is tiny. MJWhite is over-the-hill. Time for some new blood. This trailer blows all previous efforts out of the water.

I'm all for seeing films about Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, etc. Marvel has plenty of characters to work with, it's just a matter of taking their time and making them right, with the right people in front & behind the camera.

I would prefer Michael Jae White as Luke but as a side character. Either a team up or just a cross over would suite me fine.

@moviemaniac66 Your right. Soon I hope to see Doc Strange, Iron Fist, The New Mutants...the list goes on and on and i am willing to bet that Marvel Studios and disney will find a brilliant way to introduce these characters to people who are not familiat with them.

you are right, we can dream.

@skywise Well we all can dream. You never know though. Soon, Marvel will run out of sh*t to reboot and they will need to showcase more of their heroes. That could be when Ironfist gets to shine.

@moviemaniac66 Since Iron Fist is a martial arts bad ass...doing something like that would be awesome as long as they portray his fighting in a very dynamic way while showing the character's heart and soul. I think thats a brilliant idea but i dont see it happening. I am just dreaming here.

@skywise - They could always make like a short film of him and play it in front of another big Marvel movie and that could put some interest into the character. I believe that Disney is actually doing that. They are taking their smaller characters and giving them short movies infront of the bigger Marvel film to spark interest in the character. If Ironfist gets one, then you could expect an Ironfist film in the future.

@moviemaniac66 Your right, it would probably never happen but he could make an apopearence in one of the marvel movies to get interest in him then go from there. I was a huge fan of the Chris Claremont era of X Men and he was also writing Iron Fist, thats how i discovered him but your right. He is a minor character in the Marvel Universe.

@skywise - Yeah, I never like Cage either. An Iron fist movie could work but I am not sure if it would do well box office wise seeing as how he is not that big of a character. But he is pretty badass.

@moviemaniac66 I was never a big fan of Luke Cage.

A little off the subject but i would really rather see an Iron Fist movie over a Luke Cage movie...i know Fist is not black but that is a very cool character. But you are right and you have said it many times in the past...Cage is somewhat of an exploitation character and super cheesy.

@skywise - Exactly. Black Panther actually has dimension to his character and he does have a deep story. Luke Cage is so two-dimensional and boring.

@moviemaniac66 I couldnt agree with you more. Black Panther is a brilliant superhero and a very deep character. Like many others have said, i would love to see a BP movie where he is with Storm but i know that wont happen...well depending on which studio actually does it.

I have said this once and I will say it again: Luke Cage will not work well as a movie. He is more of an exploitation character than a serious one. If this movie was made in like the 70's, then it would have worked fine but a movie about him now will just seem stupid. If there is a black comic book hero who should get a movie, it is Black Panther in my opinion.

The ending fight scene was good, but i still like the old sp*ce one overall. And my pick for Luke Cage & The Black Panther was Derek Luke, but they can't happened now that he's Gabe Jones. He would have been perfect for Luke Cage, just watch Antwore Fisher. And he can pull off a African accent, like in Catch A Fire. But who ever plays Luke Cage will have a "Sweet Christmas", but i still want a Static Shock movie.
