In a story from Variety, Fox 2000 has cast Disney Channel star Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) in Tom Bezucha's young female comedy Monte Carlo.

The studio is also said to be in talks with Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) about being in the film.

Nicole Kidman is producing Monte Carlo with Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan. Kidman may also have a supporting role in the film.

Bezucha (The Family Stone) is set to start shooting in May. The film is going to be shot in Monaco, Budapest and Paris.

Bezucha wrote the script with Maria Maggenti. It focuses on a group of American women who bail on a disappointing no-frills holiday in Paris and then pose as wealthy women vacationing in Monaco.

Monte Carlo is based on the book, "Headhunters." It was written by Jules Bass.

Kidman was originally going to star in this film but a rewrite from Bezucha and April Blair gave the script a younger spin. Gomez will play the youngest of three girls.

Fox 2000 is producing Monte Carlo with Walden Media.
