Before he presented an award at the Oscars on Sunday, Dwayne Johnson hit the red carpet, where he had an interesting update about his highly-anticipated DC Comics adaptation Shazam!. When Warner Bros. announced their full movie slate in October, many were surprised that Shazam! was included. It will hit theaters on April 5, 2019, just a few weeks before Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 arrives on May 3. 2019. All we know about the project thus far is that Dwayne Johnson is playing Black Adam. Now, according to the actor's interview with MTV, the project is moving along faster than anticipated.

"It may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted. The script is coming in, it's great, the support from the studio has been great. It's just a great opportunity, especially with Black Adam where you can take a guy who starts off as a bad guy, turns into an anti-hero, we can make him vicious, a little bit of winking charm."

The actor also said that he doesn't known who will play the title character quite yet, but if the script is progressing faster than expected, we could possibly hear some casting news very soon. Darren Lemke, whose writing credits include Jack the Giant Slayer, Turbo, Beasts of Burden and Goosebumps, is currently working on the script, although no director is attached yet. The story follows a teenager named Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero Shazam! every time he says that name. Would you like to see Shazam! hit theaters before 2019?
