Casting has been heating up on Sherlock Holmes 2 lately, and now it seems the lead villain has been found. Latino Review is reporting that Mad Men star Jared Harris has landed the key role of Moriarty in the anxiously awaited sequel. Here's what the site had to say about the actor:

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances or the deal falling apart at the last minute, the role is pretty much his."

We reported over the weekend that Stephen Fry has joined the Sherlock Holmes 2 cast as Mycroft. We also reported a few weeks back that Noomi Rapace has signed onto play a mysterious French gypsy. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will return as Holmes and Watson.

Jared Harris joined the cast of AMC's Mad Men as a series regular this season after a guest-starring stint in Season 3, portraying Lane Pryce.

Warner Bros. is planning to shoot the sequel at the end of this year, with Guy Ritchie directing from a script by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney.

The casting of Jared Harris hasn't been confirmed by Warner Bros. at this time, but we'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on who will actually play Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2 as soon as an official statement is made.
