Should This Guy Play Han Solo in a ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movie?

Young look-alike Anthony Ingruber is causing quite a stir with his spot on impersonation of Harrison Ford.

Should This Guy Play Han Solo in a ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movie?

Earier this week, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Disney and Lucasfilm were working on a series of one shot movies that would be based on popular preexisting characters in the Star Wars universe, and that these movies would launch alongside Star Wars: Episode VII and the new trilogy that is being shepherded by director J.J. Abrams.

Rumored to be in the works is an Untitled Star Wars Han Solo Spin-Off and an Untitled Star Wars Boba Fett Spin-Off. While Boba Fett wears a helmet most of the time, no one is concerned about the casting of this iconic character, especially since Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett and father to Boba in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 3D is old enough, and ready to take on the role. It's Han Solo that has everyone worried. There has been much speculation as to who might play him, with actors like Zac Efron and Joseph Gordon-Levitt being thrown around. Harrison Ford was a relative unknown when he originated the part of Han in 1977, and a lot of people would like to see another unknown take the part.

Enter Anthony Ingruber, who has auditioned for the role via Youtube. We have his video, and the kid definitely evokes a young Harrison Ford/Han Solo. He may need some acting lessons before stepping on set, but that hasn't ever stopped anyone from being in a Star Wars movie before (we're looking at you, Jake Lloyd). If anything, this video proves that there is a Han Solo out there somewhere. If not this guy, then maybe someone else can pull it off. Take a look at his audition and let us know what you think.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes to theaters December 18th, 2015.

Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett Movie comes to theaters in 2018.

Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One comes to theaters December 16th, 2016.

Okay just putting it out there...I would actually really like to see either Garret Hedlund or Taylor Kitsch fill the role...

Everyone keeps saying Joseph Gordon Levitt for Han Solo. I think that's a terrible choice. I like him as an actor but I don't think thats the right character for him to be playing. I'd go with some other actors before I would choose him

He didn't AUDITION for Han Solo. He does impersonations on youtube, and has been doing so for years. And he's damn good at it too. For someone with free time, he's awesome.

Having that I don't know him personally, I'm not going to be the judge of his acting capabilities, or if he even is a professional actor. A big f*ck you to everyone who's been making blind assumptions and jabs at this guy: it's completely uncalled for.

An even bigger F*CK YOU to movieweb.com for growing weary and making their own news on this matter. If you don't have anything solid, then don't deliver. If anyone's being an amateur, it's this website getting lazy and stirring up their own feed.

@incmob It more than just casting an unknown person, like you were mentioning the person needs charm but also i too believe it will be hard to make the film since Fords so identifiable with the character the same way he is with Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard

The kid does look a lot like a young Harrison Ford. His voice isn't that far off either. His line readings weren't that great, though, which if you're trying to do an impression doesn't bode well for his ability. Sounds like this was just someone having some fun online a few years ago. Probably looks nothing like this anymore.

This is not an audition tape. This is excerpts from like five years ago, when this guy used to post impression on youtube...

I like it. If for some unlikely reason they ended up seriously considering this kid, I would hope he drops the attempt at doing Harrison Ford's voice and just talks normally. He has the look and the mannerisms down so perfectly I think he could be a really interesting choice if he tweaked it a bit.

To be honest, I really hope they choose an unknown for this project like they did for most of the actors in the original film.

@thedude-abides personally i would have to agree. the only issue is that he is only basing his performance, or impression off scripted material, which could come off different or worse if he had no example to draw from. have him read some lines from the han solo trilogy to see if he really has what it takes.

@SherlockHolmes2009 and i say no f*cking way to gordon-levitt. There is no similarity. sure he has some charm on the screen, and no doubt they will probably take a look at him, however i think they need to find an unknown or someone not as well known. when ford was cast he was relatively unknown, and he brought a sense of charm to the character, and we had nothing else to identify him with. Honestly i dont think a solo movie will work that well, for the fact that ford is so identified as that character, which is how i feel as good as the indiana jones tv show was, it was definately no indy with sean patrick flanery. its just my opinion but with a well known actor i dont think it will work that well.
